I don't feel a day over 42!!!

Ok maybe I've miscounted, but hey...I'm only a pug and counting on my paws is still a major accomplishment, right?.
It was a super fun day. My Little humans(not so little anymore) went to my favorite bakery ,got my special birthday cake, made handmade cards with our favorite things on them, drew on balloons, dressed in snazzy pug princess shirts and sang to me! I even shared a TEENY TINY bite of cake with LB because there is protein in it and he's not supposed to have ANY because of his liver. But cake is meant for sharing.., right??
Hope you are all enjoying life too!!!!

Hi, My name is Finnegan and I am 4 years old!

Today I turned FOUR.
My girl human had a hard time comprehending this one.
She insisted that I was going to be THREE all weekend long, but boy human explained that I was almost ONE  when I got here and had my first birthday party with them.
Then my baby humans came along and I was TWO.
And they turned TWO this year, so that means last year I turned THREE.
And now, today, I am in fact, FOUR(or 28'ish in dog years).
This proves time flies when you're having fun, right?!!!!
Phew.... that was a lot of explaining.

So anyway, before I got out of bed this morning my little humans were busy making me birthday cards and when I did finally wake up, race down the hallway and paused at the top of the staircase, with huge giggly smiles they both turned and  shouted in their brokentwoyearoldhumanspeak" HappyBirfDayFinEEEEEEEgin!!!!!!!!"loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear.

My girl human took a candid shot of one making me a card with all of our favorite things on it(balloons, bows, stars, clouds, sun, smiley faces, seashells with pearls and cupcakes...and orange crayons! though the yellow ones taste best) maybe that's why there's no yellow in the card ---oh yeah, I forgot "we" ate it.
And let's not forget my special cake from the great folks at Dog City Bakery!!!!
The little humans even dressed up later in special birthday dresses but wouldn't stay still long enough for a photo op. maybe next year.
Hope you have a great day like me!

Happy Friday, Arbor Day, Birthday, Busy Day

Today I had a chance to read.
Read a lot.
Read all about the goings on at  PRONC , as the most recent newsletter came out today. It's always fun seeing what's going on in the world of other pugs.
Read an email that my little humans had a new future playmate born this morning. Welcome to the world Sydney Lea. My girl human says maybe we can go have a double playdate since Sydney has two doggies of her own waiting for her to arrive home from the hospital. I love playing with other doggies!!!! And Oooooh brand new baby toes too, yummmm :-p
So in honor of Sydney's birthday we sent her a tree! After all it IS Arbor Day and a tree is something  the whole family can enjoy - even  the doggies! (get it doggies, trees, hee hee hee)
Last but not least, you can see me  reading one of my little humans' books - yup, it has been a busy day!

yesterday it rained

Wishful Thinking....

OK.... so there are days when things don't go your way, this was not going to be one of them for me.

I have shared all of my toys...

been told not to sleep on their toys...

told not to eat the food they spill...

told to sit...

stay...

wait...

and now that they have some more words in their vocabulary am told "NoNoFin" on a constant basis whenever I'm in their space, regardless of whether or not I moved into it or they moved their space to where I was previously minding my own beeswax.

But this day, I just knew the Easter Bunny hid that one orange egg with Finnegan cookies in it just for ME, didn't he......? PWeeeze....? I know they're in there.....

If Webster's had a pug...

I trained them as well as I could and happily their first few words included some of our combined favorites;
1. toes (noun plural) the very first word out of the darker furred one... and boy I love licking me some good baby toes
2. dog (noun.) because that's what I am and Finnegan is way too big for those little human mouths to say right now
3. go (noun.) the long curved yellow fruit you peel . Derived from the song "GoBanana, GoGoBanana, Peel Banana, Peel Peel Banana, Lean to the Left, Lean to the Right, Peel that Banana, and yumm, take a bite!"
4.go go (verb.) the phrase spoken when I am supposed to go outside and actually off the deck and do my business. Although I much prefer the 1960's term to move about in a frenzied dance manner -I do that much better, and it's similar to the term
5. Zippies (adv.) ultimate funtime. the step just beyond normal play run where my backend lowers the tail straightens out and a non pug owner might think a mean person placed a rocket in my butt.
Oh how I could go on about the English language, but now back to some sweet tasty baby toes...

pesky little humans....

Well I shouldn't say that, exactly. They are not as much pesky as they are time-consuming of my girl human. Most days now I am lucky to get in more than just some post-ice-cream-snuggle-time with her before bed. And playtime....?... you know, "that-good-45-minute-tease-me-with-my-Yankee-doodle" or the ever popular "let-me-do-lightning-fast-circles-around-your-body-while-you-masterfully-keep-my-armadillo-spiraling-just-millimeters-from-my-mouth" type game, yup... that's a thing of the past.
Don't get me wrong, the little humans are coming into their own nicely, and when they are not practicing their latest activity of screaming up into the pitch only us dogs can hear, they sometimes get it right and try to play tug-of-war with me. I am really so good at remembering to be nice and gentle and happy to play but every once in a while they just don't seem to understand that smacking me is not part of the game. And when they don't get their way ...that one with the short legs and darker fur really knows how to bite. What's with that ???? If I ever did that I would have to sleep on the top of the comforter or something worse like... on the floor! But maybe it's because they haven't learned to speak all their words yet. And did I tell you about the disproportionate amount of toys we have in the house now?.... I should save that for another day....It's HUGE!
Oh and just 10 days until Pug Picnic!!!!! Can't wait to see all my pals and meet some new friends too! check it out www.pugresucenc.org/picnic.html
And yes....I'm taking the two little humans with me :-)
